yea, that reminds me of one day in school. I was completly stressed out as it was and then a few complications on topof that just blew me over. So One of my trusted teachers sent me to a guidance counseler but I didn't find her to helpful. Once I started going on about Paganism she interupts like "oh those satanists?" and it just really didn't make me feel any better lol. I tried to explain to her who we really were but I was all teary so I don't know how well I did lol. But geez.

lol i agree with KA, i wouldve done the same thing - like get your facts right!
That was really good of you Lunar - being patient and explaning stuff to her, when she was obviously quite unknowing.
I usualy dont find guidance counsellors helpful either. I guess its just me- i dont open up to strangers. Im very careful and cautious lol.

wow lol tough teacher!!! what luck eh. well even though you say you cant open up to strangers, it seems like you did a good job with the counsellor in educating her! haha im very discrete (or secretive) about my practices. i dont tell people...esp not the guidance counsellor! Ive had a few too many bad experiences and thats prety much scared me off lol. so no telling for me! But you know what - even though she thought you were a satanist at first, its nice taht she took the time to accept what you were telling her - at least she listened! She did right? Without contradiction or disbelief?

Well I cant say she was completely "close minded". I mean if she had any disbeliefs or ridicules - she never expressed it! some people will...and that gets me mad. theyre so stubborn and they think that thye HAVE to be right and that theres no other way to go about...relaly pisses me off!
Most people would still think they were right and be like "your joining a cult?!?!?" (have had somone say that to me!) or "oh ya all that dark stuff - you still into it?" (someone said that to me too) I guess I know some really 'conformist' people - if thats the right word to use.

Do you "come out of the broom closet"? Do you "out" another? Do you tell the tradition-specific rites and information to anyone? This article tells what one HPS sees as the correct way. I agree with her on many points, though there are a few that I find a bit different from my viewpoint. It is a very good article, though. Read it and see what you think. www.draknet.com/proteus/nofink.htm

sorry, but i didn't read the whole article... way too long considering all the threads i need to read. but I liked the phrase "if we don't define ourselves, others will" or something like that. That's what i feel. PPl need to know what the religion is.. the practices rules, beliefs, exc. but they do not need to know what goes on between you and divinity personally in the circle or out in the wilderness. because those experiences are meant for YOU and not YOU and THEM.
but if you wouldn't mind maybe summing up the whole long article that would be helpful.
