I hate when people use their energy up with hating stuff. I hate hate sites. Why can't people do something constructive? Live and let live. One of my friends just gave me a link to some bible-bashing site... which I can understand, and I don't agree with their beliefs or how they worship, but I have better ways to spend my time than scowling at my computer screen. [/rant]
*Edit: I started to read whywiccanssuck.com, but I got too annoyed.

Yes, there are many wiccan bashing sites out there. That is just too unfortunate. I remember that site Visited it a while back. But the site "why wiccans suck" - well, they do have a point. They are NOT against 'true' wiccans or the wicca religion, but the fluff bunnies or whatever you like to call them. They are mainly against the people who call themselves "wiccans" which they are not, and have very little knowledge about wicca and its practices. In a way, I have to agree. There are way to many people today that claim they are 'wiccan' but than walk around cursing and threatening to place hexes on people - which is obviously not wicca. I think those are the people that this site is targeted against, not the true wiccans who are dedicated to the earth and the goddess. Lastly, I think the site is doing those 'fluff bunnies' too much justice in calling them wiccans - because they obviously aren't. (and it also gives the 'true wiccans' a bad image! -- which we dont deserve!) Edited to add: interesting topic! hopefully we'll get some interesting opinions!

Yeah I've seen that sight. Come to think of it, I've posted some wiccan bashing sites on here before. Wouldn't surpise if it were that one lol. But I kind of do see his/her point. I think it was more aimed at the "fluff bunnies".

Yea that site wasn't so bad...I kind of agree. But IMO it is dumb to waste all your energy on hating something. Why not do something productive?

Yes, it is true, there are "newbies" out there who call themselves Wiccan without the needed knowledge to really understand just what that moniker really stands for. However, I can remember a time, albeit a long long time ago, when I did not know even what a Wiccan was, either. (over thirty years to be exact). Those who call themselves Wiccan and continue to behave in a mundane-like manner need our love, understanding and our prayers. Yes, I said our prayers. We need to talk to our God and Goddess about them asking that they receive the enlightenment that they need to make the major changes in their lives so that the need for explicative pronouncements and threating to throw spells and hexes at people willy-nilly and "show off" what they think they are is not needed to be done by them. If we truly believe in the Rede, or if we are followers of Crowley's admonition of "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law," then we should encourage them to reach the enlightenment that they need instead of pooh-poohing them. I will admit, that unless I had had those who were supposed to meet me actually enter into mentorship with me as my spiritual guides in this world, I would have probably taken the same (or nearly the same path) as Anton LeVay took in his Satanism.
There is an old Amerindian guidance that says something like: Do not curse or abuse until you have walked a mile in my sandals, or something quite close to that.
It is possible to lead someone to enlightenment, just don't give up on them.
Blessed be! de Zathros
