i'm sitting here watching an A&E bio of J.K.Rolling and thinking about the reactions of the public. my grandmother as a matter of fact is one of those christians freaking out about Harry Potter, saying it's 'of the devil' and such. and i wondered if anyone else would like to through their two cents in here. personally i think she's a very good writer, did her homework (as good writiers should) and wrote very good books, quite basicly.

The when I first read the Book I loved it! I thought it was so imaginative and creative. I wish I had that kind of talent. My fiance's mother is the same way. When she comes over, we have to hide the harry potter books ( Along with my Altar, and pagan books.) She is a fanatic Christian, and she believes that anything outside of her religion or makes reference to it is evil.

i know people always fear the unknown. i've never agreed with passing jugment before you know anything about the thing. what i think is really sick is the fact that they claim she's 'promoting witchcraft.' she made up most of the 'magick' in the stories, and even said she wasn't a believer in the least of magick or witchcraft. i mean, i collect the books and they never got me thinking about witchcraft or magick or anything *shrug* they were just good books with a backdrop. i don't know. people are just stupid.

That's what I think too, Syri Whiteflame. It's Oviously fantasy. Witches can't do 99.9% of what's in the Harry Potter Books. Sometimes it amazes me that people believe that witches can do that.

Harry Potter is almost 100% fantasy its for children and of course children at heart. There was this sight that was trufully AGAINST wicca I think one of our memebers posted it. It was complaing about how it was promoting witchcraft when most of the stuff is untrue I mean seriously do we really on broomsticks and play quitch? Though it would be fun

I love Harry Potter - own all the books, read them MANY times!!! But i'm not too nuts about the movie.
She is an awesome writer and obviously she did do some research. It doesn't exactly portray the truth about witches and wicca, but thats ok - it obviously wasn't her goal. Its fantasy, so its fun, so I bear no grudges about the false thigns in the movie/book.
I really like the books! Any idea when the next harry potter bk is coming out? is anyone gonna see the movie? (its out this friday - tomorrow!!!!)

yeah the movies aren't as good as the books, but then movies rarely do capture the same magic. although lord of the rings comes really dang close i'd have to say ^-^ i'll probably just wait and rent it. i'm not sure when the next book is, but concidering i haven't managed to get the fifth book yet, i guess i should be happy it's not out yet and that i'm not two books behind heheh well one thing i like is that she didn't call the guys warlocks, so atleast that's something. but time travel, flying cars, postions to 'stopper death' i mean come on your right though faery that would be fun ^-^

I love the books and own them all too. But I alo agree the movies aren't that good. I think the whole commotion over the lure of witchcraft from these books is crazy, it shows how scared some of these people are.
I am going to see the movie, though it isnt out here until June 10th so no-one say anything about it!!!!! Last time me and my sis went to opening night dressed up, it was such a blast. I cant wait until they make the 4th movie as that was my fav book, tri wizard cup in a movie, how cool is that going to be!

yes the books are always better because you need to use your imagination when you read them. I wish I had the powers they have in the books/movies sometimes lol a flying car would be nice lol

*nods in agreement with wicca chick* yes, reality is more full filling, fantasy is fun, that's it's purpose. lol in the end a flying car or such things would probably end us in alot of odd trouble. if any of you have ever seen bewitched? yeah like that lol great for a sit-com but poor daren almost died a million times from those close calls.

hehe and dont forget Charmed....those charmed girls can get through anything no matter what! With their magick potions and fire flying outta their hands, orbing all around, etc....hehe so fun lol.
I so agree - reality is really fulfilling!!! It really gives a purpose to life....

I like the H.P. books and movies. Obviously they're fantasy and not aiming to be portraying in true witchcraft or anything. c'mon it's just a book\movie ppl should still be allowed to have fun lol.
