Merry Meet (hey i can get use to this ) i'm just courious about your experiences when you told your family of wicca and magic, and how did they react... i've told my mom about wicca, but only the religious side, and she said that is nice, but i souldn't get too excided. that means, that i can get informed about it, but to believe, its another thing. well, i exepted her reaction, but now i'm afraid to tell her that i do believe in god an goddess and about magic work. she is open minded person, but she thinks that i should be out with my friends, and not concern about mysteries of life. well, i think its her who takes everything so seriuslly and she dont want for me to be involved with something like this. and one more question.....did u have a friend who was wiccan or were you all by yourself??? i think it's a lot easier to have a friend who shares their belief with you. Blessed Be (my first blessings...wow..lol )

MM nice to have you on board! Well first of all im a solitary myself, sadly I have no wiccan friends so I have to learn all by myself. I've chosen not to tell my parents as they are strict christians (well sorta they dont go church) if your mum took it as nicly as she did when you told her about wicca, maybe she'll feel the same way. Lol i say its a lot more easier to tell your parents if their atheists!

Hi MoonEye! Well my dad is really um observant with what happens with his computers - he knows what we do on it and everything (yeah! i know - no privacy!) and he obviously saw that i was researching about wicca/witchcraft/magick. I got really into it - so I put my mother into the picture too, I made her buy me some wiccan books! And she did! Nobody in my family was relaly against it - they are athiests and very down-to-earth you might say and they dont believe in spirituality or magick of any kind. In fact, i doubt they even believe in a higher power (as in god/dess) So being this, they could care less what i did with my life. They think its jsut a phase- something i go thru and end up giving up. But we'll see - so far its been a few yeras, yet im still here! So in short - my parents were OK with it. No, I didnt have a friend or a teacher or any wiccan that I knew to help me out. So I was all alone - but hey, Im living proof that you can make it thru this path by yourself! You dont always need someone to help you out or depend on for. And although being solitary does have its disadvantages, it has its advantages too! So what about you - are you going solitary? wiccan friends? MoonEye, your actually lucky your mom is quite openminded. Some parents are really um restrictive and protective and would go CRAZY knowing their kids got into "this stuff" according to them. (and would therefore restrict all altars, magickal workings, etc - lol theyd probably send u to christian camp too! ) I don't see what harm it would be to tell your mom that you believe in the god/dess and magick. She IS open minded and was fine with you telling her about wicca. Expalin to her how wicca makes you a better person - you have more faith in yourself, you feel complete, youre dedicated to the earth, etc, etc. And of course that it makes you happy - no parent will deny that from you. Whatever makes their kid happy, they'll support. (hopefully!) Blessings. See ya around.

well... ive been thinking alot about tellingher lately, and i decided to tell her, and thank u so much, wicca chick, u help me to make a decision lol, but youre right. i hope she wont forbid me doing magical work, because...i totaly agree that is much easier to tell your parent if theyr atheists, but if they want for their child to be atheist too (like with me) its not that simple. esspecially if u have a stepdad, who laughs at everything that u believe. so i deciced to tell my mom. if she exepts it, fine. if she don't, fine too. she cant make me forget all that i believe.
about friends. im solitairy, i study all by myself, and its ok with me. but im also registered an the forum about young wiccans in my county. and one is actually from my city, and we are in the same school, but i havent met her yet. maybe, when school starts, we'll get together, i'd love to have company sometimes, someone who can tell me their point of view, but i dont want any commitment, i like to study wicca alone.
and i realy thought youre all from wiccan family, im not sure why i got this in mind. maybe because you all are just so informed, i dont know half as much as you, but i have the whole life to study and learn, so its not that bad lol.
Blessings

that's right mooneye she can't make you forget what you believe!!! Well both my mom and dad know. I told my dad first though. My dad kinda has his own "religion" he just blends beliefs kinda. my mom is a semi strict christian... but accepting. My dad had no problems accepting it... he's VERY supportive and encourages me all the way!! He even helps me buy and get Wiccan stuff!!! and he's always there to talk to ... taht's the best thing. and he's letting us have a Samhain fire in his g.friend's backyard ((loads of woods and a HUGE river, how wonderful!!!)) He's even blended Wiccan beliefs into his "religion" lol. and my mom.. well it took me a lil longer to tell her. But she went into it cautiously like mothers do lol. She still wants be to be Christian and thinks Wicca and Jesus are one in the same lol but she respects me for my beliefs.. mabye not accepts but respects so that's good. Just last night she helped me redecorate my altar a lil bit!!! Cool!! She doesn't understand the magick part though.... she says magic is only sparks flying from a wand... *hollywood magic i told her* and not the projection of energies to bring about needed change!!! ah well maybe one day.. so she's either slowly turning toward it more or against it more... but i hope toward it. so yeah my parents are AWESOME when it comes to Wicca... supportive and respecting.. like parents shoudl be!!! and my two sis's kno too. The older one is atheist so she just straight up doesn't care. The younger is Christian and respects me and even gets into soem of the stuff that i got into through Wicca.. like astral projection. ok and Amy *full moon* is my Wiccan Buddy!!!! lol. I guess you could say we both met up at a crossroad on our spiritual paths and decided to take the rest of the walk hand in hand. but we're each more solitary but can have a partnership at times!!! and now vikki... vampyrequeen from the board.... is also beginning to look into Wicca... but she's amy's friend... we're more of .. well idk just cnt explain it... not as good buds lol. more than aquantences (sp?) but yea.. lol anyway. and I recently found out that my belly dance teacher (teaching and she's ONLY thirteen!!!) is Pagan too... so that's cool. Good luck with your mom!!!

well I dont think I really told anyone lol. THey where just obsevent. I dont tell the world I m wiccan but I dont hide it either. I take my books to work and read them now there is a funny story involved. I worked as a nurse at a hospital called St. MAry's i almost freaked out a nun by what I was reading but I was the one suprized when she didnt say anything about it. I was very supriozed for I thought the nun would lol.
Wel my family knows eept my mother in law. I send my daughter to church with my mother but then also do PAgan things with her. Someone told me That I would confuse her thAT way. But I dont feel that I would lol. I will let her decide what she wants to do when she is older.
My dad was cool with it, my grandma dont know i dont tell her anything, in her eyes i am still the sweet five year lol.
It good for me That I dont have to worry about there reactions for even if they were bad it wouldnt matter for I can buy my own books, and hey I dont have to live with them. Thats the best part about moving out lol.

I think it's a really great idea to let your children experience both relgions so they can choose... because chooses make us who we are and she may get a little confused at times but in the end it's all worth it because she will be prepared to make her spiritual decision.

yep thats my feeling I would hate for her to be only around one relgion and then be confused because she didnt feel like it was for her. This way she gets both

ka and lunar....tnx so much for youre stories... i guess in us is a lil bit easier because it's official religion...
as i said (i think its in introduction....oh well in does't matter) kai, youre very lucky to be on youre own, cos when youre in youre parents home, you cant just do whatever you want, without them noticing it....and the wors part is thay can forbid you everything thay want...
yeah, i think the idea to show your daughter both religions is great, i was alway against the idea of parents like forsing their children to believe whatever they believe...
and lunar...you have great parents!!!! where did you find them lol...
take care&blessings ****kiss****

Blessings Hi again!
Very few of us are really from wiccan families and those who are are really lucky lol!! And it doenst take a wiccan family to make you knowledgable! You can learn things on your own...just like we all did. You just gotta read read and read!! Thats the only way. And of course practice too! Trust me - you'll get there!!! Just takes some time...but you will get there if youre determined to!! At first I was pretty hopeless about all this - like would i ever know what i had to or would i ever get this right? But everything just falls into place in time. Things are a lot easier now, I know its tough at first, but you will make it!
Good luck with telling your mom or your stepdad! I really dont think your mom would forbid you from magick, esp if she doesnt think it works - she'll just think youre wasting your time but i doubt she'll stop you. (just make sure she knows its not anything 'dark') And aobut your stepdad laughing at everyting you believe - lol its OK, trust me - there isnt really a bad intention to it. My dad does it too But its OK!!! I dont mind Just gotta make the best outta everythign!!
good luck with everything! Keep reading!!

wicca chick,
about reading....well in last few months ive read more than in the rest of my life lol, because i was so thirsty for knowledge, and i couldnt stop lol, and i don't regret it, cos now i know sooo much more about things that before i didnt even know what they were about.....but it kinda hard...because, here you can hardly find an occult book. sure we have them, but there are very few. well, luckily the day after tommorow im gonna go shopping with my friend, and i will defenetly stop at book store. i haven't been there for ages, cos i usually go to city library, and there you can hardly find something about witchcraft. thans god for my grandma, shes christian, but very open minded, and when i stop at her place, i can read magazines and books about spirituality (like colours, it has its own chapter about healing and stones).
well, as i said, the books are not easy to find, so my first choice. i remember one site, that made me thing, and on that thinking, i decided (well not realy consiously decided) to be or at least to find more about wicca. yesterday the search an the net brought me to the same site. guess what, it turned to be full of mistakes. and i realised ive learned soo much in this 2 or 3 months, and that ive become more critical. back then i blindly believed to everything that was written....... gosh......thanks wicca!!lol
well, sorry i wrote a lil bit too much.... ive noticed that at night my hands write themselves lol...
Blessings

lol it's fine, the boards are meant for rambling and learning! Yea, I only know one girl who was born into a Wiccan family from my school. So she goes around saying she's Wiccan and all but all she knows is that we worship the God and Goddess and respect nature. And she's more into that kinda.. hmm don't know what to call it... "goth Wicca" "fluff bunny" type stuff if you get what I'm saying. So even if you're born into a family of a certain religion I personally don't believe that makes you that religion unless you yourself look into it and learn and practice and believe.

Mooneye, Yeah - my local library is actually pretty big (3 floors) so it has a fair amount of wiccan books - but its still not a lot, and most of them arent that good. But definitely check the bookstore - i find that they have WAY more books than at libraries... lol i wont even start recommending bookstores, as i know we dont have the same bookstores! lol yeah, you'll find that all religions have some thigns in common, but i see that you've already discovered that yourself when you were lookiing into spirituality in the christian religion. so look around, things that dont have the word Wicca plastered all over them doesnt mean that they dont apply! Blessings
