GB & MM All,
Just a few (hopefully) thought provoking wustions for you. I love delving into the thought processes of others to see how much I really dont kow ;)
1. Did Gardner really try in earnest to revive the Old Religion, or did he do this for personal gain?
2. Your Book of Sahdows........does it have to be handwritten?
3. When casting or doing rituals......do you specify a Goddess/God or do you use the terms Goddess/God? Why?
4. Do you use mental/spiritual armor meditations?
5. Do you cast protection spells around your house and family? How about if they dont approve or would not approve?
These are just a few thought to help provoke the group lol.......I do mean that in the nice way not the bad way.

Hi, A lot of those quesitons are based on opinoin (or how you do things yourself) and everyone may have a different answer. 1. It really depends how you look at it...again its about opinions, which sources you've read from, etc. What do YOU think of it? Well since you ARE looking for an answer, Id like to hope that it wasnt for his own personal gain! bUt I would guess in all honesty of my opinion that its a little of both 2. BOS - it can be handwritten - or not. I have mine handwritten. But I know that you can keep it on your computer, print out pages you need etc. Its actually kinda funky - you can put it in fancy old font, etc. 3. If you havent chosen a specfic goddess/god yet - jus use the terms god and goddess. And often, your ritual has a purpose. I sometimes like to find the deity that corresponds to the purpose of my ritual. (for example (just an easy example) if i was doing a love ritual, i might call on aphrodite as she is the goddess of love) 4. No - i just do normal meditation. It works for me. 5. Yes, I do sometimes perform very simple protection spells on the house, esp before we go on a vacation or something. I guess I feel the need to as we are leaving the house unattended for over a week or so often! I usually dont tell my parents, theyd think id gone nuts. So I just do it when theyre out or something. Plus I coudlnt possibly perform a spell with them around anyways too much distraction!& i know they wouldnt mind TOO muc....theyd just think im wasting my time. but weve never had a break in or anything....so i dont see why not! If they dont approve - I dont see harm in doing it, so you could still try it if you wish. But its alywas best to get permission, but i know its not always possible with parents. Well I think thats it. IF you have anything else, just post!

GB & MM,
I had posted a reply, at least I thought I did yesterday lol.....dang work pc
1. Gardner, I believe, had a 2- fold purpose in writing his books: 1. To be the first person from the UK area to market a theory of pagan religion. This is not to say he TEXTonlyTEXT wanted to get monetary compensation, but it was a definate driving force. 2. To make sure that what he believed to be the proper ways of practricing Goddess worship as well as The Craft (in his own humble opinion) was out there so it can be used to discredit anyone who spoke up of any differences. Gardner did a great service when he published his books; the information about Goddess worship would probably have never spread out to some areas. Although I do not agree with Gardner about his theology, I can accept the fact that there are those out there that do follow hos Tradition.
2. My BoS is actually a combination. I hand write the material that will be permanently added to my BoS, but the Temporary things (such as some spells or research material) is often printed. The BoS should be a reflection of the person making it.
3. I do have a Patroness/Patron Deities, but I also use specific names to accomplish certain goals. For instance, the last Drawing Down the Moon I completed. I invoked Hectae into me. I go the idea from a book and wondered about the effectiveness. The effects were phenominal.
4. I have yet to do this, bu tI do use Talismans and cahrms
5. I cast them throught the house, all over the property (as needed i.e. for weather), and if necessary I give protective talismans. I dont normally cast spells for people. THe spell will be more effective if the person casts it, not a different person who may have different goals for the spell.
