college is extremely different than HS! Firstly, imagine being lost in one building, which seems to have been a big issue with most of you starting HS. Our HS was one building, not counting the shop people and Vo Tech...but in college I have to go through many buildings:o really confusing, and I leave through one exit and think its where I cam in...but everything outside changes and I'm lost again:o and the schedules are different, I only go Tuesday/Thursday while other people may go other days, or each day and I don't have a lunch until 2:50 on tuesdays and 1:45 Thursdays:o I do have 15 mins between each class and I carry food and a drink and eat while I go to my next class. and I also sometimes eat in class/during class Food is much more expensive...my mom and I only bought 2 salads and one drink...yet our bill was up to 14$ reading is neccessary...I cannot stress that enough! the proffs don't say, read chapter 1 through 4 for thursday, they figure you will do it or you won't and you better read it:o I was lucky and took an English course my first semester...how happy I am. It turns out, college writing is alot diferent than HS...and since I was in College Prep classes, I figured they were preparing us to enter into a college atmosphere with the skills of college writing...how wrong I was!!!! according to our English prof, we need to do more thinking than just giving the facts-the way my HS teachers asked for- they would only want the facts, but in college they want you to think. Instead of doing a book report, and explaining what the book was about, and its elements, they would want you to include your opinion. also, they would want you to prepare an argument-or they may take points off I have so much to learn... and for what we pay for tuition, I think we should also be provided with couches for seating surfaces...lol the desks are so unconfortable!! and there is barely enough room to place your books and take notes:o Extra Credit: I have found there are some extra credit oportunities, but they are really complex. but they aren't due to the end, so you can decided if your grade is low and do them at that time Early dismissals: Remember in HS, you had to wait for a bell? well in college, there is none. sometimes, like yesterday, our psych prof let us out early because she had to do something else. so we were out like 25 mins early! also, the first day out english teacher let us out furthermore, there are times in our English course when we don't need to show up. instead she gives us small 15 minute progress meetings, and if we show up for those, we don;t need to show up for class. she also dismisses us from Election day, and our goal is to vote and we don't have to go to class!!! at the moment, that is all I can think of for comparing HS to college. If anything else shows up, I will gladly inform you:P gee...am I sounding like a college student already:o:D

my replies and questions and comments are in pink!
Food is much more expensive...my mom and I only bought 2 salads and one drink...yet our bill was up to 14$ Oh my gosh!!! that IS expensive!!! Is every place that expensive or just this one....geez!!!
reading is neccessary...I cannot stress that enough! the proffs don't say, read chapter 1 through 4 for thursday, they figure you will do it or you won't and you better read it:o So they dont tell you what to read? You have to figure it out on your own?! Gee thats tough! So they'll be talking about something and you'll have to relate it to the txtbk yourself and read what they talked about or something? How big are your classes? I dont suppose the profs know each of you by name do they lol...
according to our English prof, we need to do more thinking than just giving the facts-the way my HS teachers asked for- they would only want the facts, but in college they want you to think. Instead of doing a book report, and explaining what the book was about, and its elements, they would want you to include your opinion. also, they would want you to prepare an argument-or they may take points off Hmmm i do that a little bit in high school....*some* of our teachers put a twist to the assignments instead of just retelling facts and some teachers are too lazy to asssign essays lol...
I have so much to learn... and for what we pay for tuition, I think we should also be provided with couches for seating surfaces...lol the desks are so unconfortable!! and there is barely enough room to place your books and take notes:o Are you living/staying at home? Or in a dorm near the college or something? Do you study in your room or in the library or study room or whateve ryou have?
Early dismissals: Remember in HS, you had to wait for a bell? well in college, there is none. sometimes, like yesterday, our psych prof let us out early because she had to do something else. so we were out like 25 mins early! also, the first day out english teacher let us out furthermore, there are times in our English course when we don't need to show up. instead she gives us small 15 minute progress meetings, and if we show up for those, we don;t need to show up for class. she also dismisses us from Election day, and our goal is to vote and we don't have to go to class!!! oh wow defeinntely SO much more freedom...so really no one woudl care if you skipped every class, but that of course would be horrible, considerng yoru grades at the end!
at the moment, that is all I can think of for comparing HS to college. If anything else shows up, I will gladly inform you:P gee...am I sounding like a college student already:o:D lol!!! YOU ARE A COLLEGE STUDENT!!!!!!! So do you LIKE it?! Or do you prefer HS more?
KEEP US UPDATED WITH EVERYTHIGN!! AND LET US KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE THAT COMES UP...

I like highschool ALOT better! I'm really really enjoying highschool!! the only hard part now *dnt get lost nemore!* is Algebra 2... I'm the only freshman who takes it . So im working my butt off AlREADY to keep up. anyway there's way more freedom and idk... it doesn't seem like people were as rude as middleschool. this mentally challenged kid was having some sort of spasm in the hall way and everyone just gave him room and NOBODY said a single word! and well there are PLENTY of oppurtunities to be made fun of.. but it doesn't happen! idk maybe that's just my classes. :;sigh:: it's exciting too!! and as you know im in ROTC which is like a Navy class were we can be on a drilling team and stuff... that's so much fun!! it's scary..but fun! and there's just more options available to try out like photography class, forest ranger... idk just realy cool!

So they dont tell you what to read? You have to figure it out on your own?! Gee thats tough! So they'll be talking about something and you'll have to relate it to the txtbk yourself and read what they talked about or something? How big are your classes? I dont suppose the profs know each of you by name do they lol...
[glow=red,2,300] they tell you what chapters to read, but they don't inforce it. If you were lazy and didn't read it, they won't ask you a bunch of questions to be a jerk...but they do suggest you read it because it will help. mostly what I have ran into, is two teachers who do not base their teachings on the book. (oh yea, and the books are expensive..I'd get my use out of them:P) both teachers give you notes, and explain things. but our psych teacher said we could get a further insight if we read the book, also there are diagrams and pictures ect. and even cd roms...that I have no idea what they do. the other teacher gave us a test today, and he said he won't fail us if we didn't get any correct. instead he gives us credit for trying:o what are we, kindergardeners? oh well..and the other teacher allows us to redo one quiz that we had a low grade on...same questions and answers...so guarenteed A!!![/glow]
Are you living/staying at home? Or in a dorm near the college or something? Do you study in your room or in the library or study room or whateve ryou have?
[glow=red,2,300]I am living at home and commuting...47 miles one way:o lol I study...anywhere..lol I study in my room, in the living room, in student lounges, anywhere I can curl up before class starts:P they do have a library, but I've never been in it...and they have benches outside to sit, study, eat...and couches/chairs/benches ect inside where you can sit and study...sleep ect and even a big table where a group can study or talk[/glow]
lol!!! YOU ARE A COLLEGE STUDENT!!!!!!! So do you LIKE it?! Or do you prefer HS more?
[glow=red,2,300]I do like college, and prefer college. I just wish I could meet more people since I don't have many friends, just a handful I met in class...they have clubs!!! Tuesdays I was invited to the...vampire club:-/ o yea..its like role playing/acting on stage but with no script. you get a character and must play that role..I think there are wherewolves too, I'm not sure about everything, and it did sound interesting, but I'm not sure I'd be really into it...but I signed up to recieve information! I did sign up for a bunch of clubs when I made my schedule but I never heard about those afterwards:([/glow]

Wow college sounds REALLY exciting too!! Vampire club? wow that's cool that they have variety like that! Role playing would be SO MUCH FUN! are you goingk to join?
lol yea well waking up early isn't too cool... but i wake up to a cute little jack curled up against me... you can't be grumpy after that. and it feels good to get more responsibility and working and studying... well i LOVE to learn... to learn ANYTHING! that's why i signed up for ROTC and to be a better person. I mean the whole grammer stuff isn't that cool but it still feels AWESOME just to be learning SOMETHING! Guess that's just the Aquarius nature... lol..... eccentric and weird (liking school!) and always wantin' to learn!

School still hasnt started for me yet!!! But it will on Tuesday But we have crappy clubs at my school anyways...so nothing really to look forward too. My school is NOT the ideal high school. Still relaxing...having a pretty good time, wrote my Mabon ritual yesterday...will put details up in the General board later...or maybe now. Ciao.
